Numerous and belligerent, The Fire Ants String Band brings old-time mountain music to Texas Gulf Coast anthills. The Fire Ants are a six-piece string band fusing Houston bluegrass and Appalachian traditions with Texas fiddling and swing. Their repertoire blends traditional tunes with originals about dirt-yard dogs, space worms, and alligator men, delivered with sparkling instrumentation and tight vocal harmonies.
You've probably seen 'em on a farm, in a field, in a barn, or maybe on an actual stage. They're biscuits and gravy in the morning, iced tea on the porch, and a little moonshine at night. But don't hold all this against 'em; they're still a hoot to be around. If you need some good-time music, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can call The Fire Ants.
